Survey Services
Advanced technology and proven offshore expertise for some of the world's most challenging deep-ocean environments.
Our Equipment
Eco Minerals, through Deep Sea Vision, operates an integrated suite of deep-ocean survey and exploration technology capable of mapping, imaging, characterizing and sampling the seafloor at full-ocean depths. Our equipment and experienced offshore team allow us to take projects from broad-area reconnaissance through high-resolution AUV survey and targeted physical sampling.

HUGIN 6000
The HUGIN 6000 is a proven autonomous underwater vehicle capable of operating at depths of up to 6,000 meters. Equipped with advanced sonar and imaging systems, it performs high-resolution mapping and characterization while operating close to the seafloor. The platform is particularly well suited to large-area deep-ocean surveys where resolution, navigation accuracy and data quality are critical.

HUGIN Superior
HUGIN Superior is Kongsberg's most advanced deep-water AUV, rated to 6,000 meters. Its HISAS 1032 Dual Receiver synthetic aperture sonar produces imagery and bathymetry across a 1,000-meter swath, backed by an EM2040 MKII multibeam echosounder, UHD color camera and laser profiler, sub-bottom profiler and magnetometer. Swappable batteries give more than 72 hours of endurance, and navigation accuracy better than 0.04% of distance travelled means more data, positioned more precisely, with less supervision.

HiPAP
Kongsberg's HiPAP high-precision acoustic positioning system tracks subsea targets such as AUVs, ROVs, towed bodies and seabed transponders from the vessel. Using electronic beam control, the hull-mounted transducer forms narrow transmit and receive beams in any direction below the ship, delivering accurate positions in shallow and deep water with strong noise and multipath suppression. It supports SSBL and LBL positioning and Cymbal acoustic data links.

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis gives our team fast, nondestructive, multi-element readings of nodule and sediment samples. Measuring nickel, copper, cobalt, manganese and other elements within minutes of recovery, XRF helps guide sampling decisions in the field and flags the most promising material for full laboratory assays.

SK GEOTEK Vessel
SK GEOTEK is a 64.8-meter diesel-electric multi-purpose offshore support vessel, built in 2025 and classed as an offshore support and geotechnical survey vessel. With DP2 dynamic positioning, 420 m² of deck space, a 3.2 × 3.2 m moon pool and accommodation for 60, it provides a stable, capable platform for AUV launch and recovery, seabed sampling and extended offshore survey campaigns.
Image: KongsbergEM304
The Kongsberg EM 304 MKII is a hull-mounted multibeam echosounder built for full-ocean-depth mapping. Swath width is typically about 5.5 times water depth down to almost 2,000 meters, reaching more than 12,000 meters in deep water, with up to 1,600 beams in dual-swath mode. It is ideal for broad-area bathymetric reconnaissance ahead of targeted, high-resolution AUV survey.

Our box coring system recovers large, minimally disturbed samples of seafloor sediment and nodules, together with the overlying bottom water, from any water depth. Lowered on a deep-sea cable, the corer triggers on contact with the seabed and a spade closes beneath the sample box to seal the core for recovery. Box cores provide the physical ground truth for nodule abundance, composition and environmental baseline studies.
